What Makes Cellstone Jewelry So Special?
Cellstones

- A Cellstone is an artificial gemstone that contains your stem cells or those of a loved one. They are crafted with the utmost care by our scientists and can be seamlessly incorporated into jewelry such a rings.
- Cells are among the most complex entities on the planet. Each one holds a complete copy of your DNA that makes you, you. Each one also contains the intricate machinery of billions of enzymes and proteins that keeps you alive and thriving.
- The cell in its whole is therefore much more special and representative of your loved-one then pieces of DNA, hairs, or similar.
- A Cellstone holds thousands of cells, making every piece of jewelry that contains one extraordinary, as you or a loved one is physically and emotionally present through the cells.
Proposing is more than just the moment; it’s about the thought, the emotion, and the care that goes into every detail.
A Cellstone shows that you’ve gone beyond tradition to create something truly special—something that symbolizes the unique bond you share. It’s not just a gemstone; it’s a memory, a connection, and a promise.
When he/she hears the effort and thought behind a Cellstone ring, the answer will be as clear as the gemstone itself.

How It’s Made
The World’s Most Special Jewelry.
1. Obtaining the cells
After ordering, you will receive a cell isolation kit. With this kit, you pull out and collect multiple hairs containing roots into a tube with special liquid. You mail this tube to us with the pre-paid return envelope included with the kit.

2. Isolating and growing the cells
Upon receiving your sample, we isolate and culture the stem cells from the hair roots in our laboratory using our innovative technologies. Developed by our Ph.D.-level scientists, these methods ensure a clean, high-quality isolation of your cells. We then use these isolated cells to create your Cellstones.

3. Producing Cellstones with the cells
Once your cells are ready, they are preserved and placed into a highly durable, skin-safe resin. This is transferred into a special mold and hardened under specific conditions to form the final Cellstone.
Your Cellstones will be carefully packaged, including multiple backups. These extras are provided for potential ring resizing, use in other jewelry, or replacement in case of damage—ensuring your personalized piece lasts for years.

4. Completing the ring and jewelry
- With your Cellstones, you can visit a local goldsmith or jeweler experienced in ring adjustment to have it set into your ring or other jewelry—turning it into a lasting symbol of connection, memory, or love.
- The goldsmith or jeweler carefully drills a cylindrical opening – either a shallow indentation or a complete hole – to place the Cellstone. Excess material is removed, and the surface is polished for a seamless finish.
- Setting instructions from our partner goldsmiths are included with your delivery and are also available on our website—perfect to bring to your preferred store.
- We recommend discussing your plans with a jeweler or goldsmith in advance to ensure the selected Cellstone size is suitable for your ring or jewelry piece.

100% Money-Back Guarantee if He/She Doesn’t Love It!
We aim for complete customer satisfaction. So to make your decision easier and avoid any regret, we offer a full money-back guarantee if he/she doesn’t love the Cellstone concept.
If he/she doesn’t like it, any goldsmith can simply restore the ring by removing the Cellstone, inserting new metal, melting it into one piece, and polishing it to a restored state. However, based on our research almost everyone loves it!

Multiple Cellstone Options
Sizes I Colors I Mixes
Every Cellstone is crafted to capture a unique story—yours. We offer 16 different colors, 6 sizes, and 3 content mix options to craft cylinder Cellstones that can be used for different jewelry pieces, from rings and necklaces to bracelets, earrings, and beyond. Whether you want a subtle accent or a bold focal point, you can select the Cellstone that best fits your wishes.
Cylinder shape

- The Cellstone has a cylindrical shape, allowing it to be seamlessly inlaid into a ring band or most other types of jewelry.
- When set in a complete opening – a through-hole – the Cellstone is visible from both the inside and outside of the ring while worn. When placed in an indentation, it becomes more discreet and is only visible from one side, such as the inside. You can see a few examples further below.
- The cylindrical Cellstone also integrates beautifully into pendants, earrings, and bracelets.
- Several mixing options are available: (1) only your cells, (2) only your partner’s cells, (3) a mix of both your cells, or (4) a combination of all the above—symbolizing a powerful connection.
Ring examples
Bio Bling develops only the Cellstones, not the rings. This means you can combine your Cellstones with any ring or other jewelry—simply visit a jewelry store with access to a goldsmith to have them set into your preferred piece.
Below are inspiring examples of rings with Cellstones. Because every design and lighting condition is unique, the final color and radiance of your Cellstone will be as individual as you are.

The Types of Cells in Cellstones
Cellstones are truly unique because they contain cells from a loved one, making jewelry deeply personal and one of a kind. But cells are not just generic building blocks—for humans, there are about 200 different types known today, and for none do we yet fully understand how they work in detail. Cells are, without a doubt, one of the most complex entities on our planet.
Each cell type has its own “profession,” much like a plumber, doctor, or carpenter in society. For example, liver cells, heart cells, and skin cells are each specialized for unique roles. Even within a single type, like skin cells, there are variations with slightly different jobs, adding to the intricate complexity of Cellstones.
Cellstones can include multiple types of cells—see some examples below.
Mighty Spike cells
These are a type of mesenchymal stem cell (see white arrows) with a distinctive spiky appearance—hence our nickname "Mighty Spike." They attach to plastic surfaces and retain the remarkable ability to differentiate into various “professions,” such as nerve, muscle, bone, fat-related cells, and others. Once they commit to a specific role, they lose this flexibility. Additionally, these cells play a key role in tissue repair, regeneration, and immune system regulation.
Kintama cells
These are a type of keratinocyte precursor cell (see white arrows) that retain some stem cell ability to further specialize in their profession. In the lab, they typically appear as golden balls—which inspired our nickname "Kintama," the Japanese word for golden ball—floating in liquid. They likely play a supportive role in maintaining hair. When present in dense numbers, they can form pentagonal keratinocyte sheets. This family of cells also contributes to skin formation.
Our Origin Story
Why Bio Bling?
Like most men at a certain point in their lives, our founder, Dr. Leithe Budel, faced the question of how—and with what—to propose to the love of his life. Overwhelmed by countless ring options and the opinions on how it’s supposed to be, there was one thing he could agree with: It must be special. He also realized that a proposal ring is already exceptional because of why and especially by whom it is given.
That’s when Leithe had the idea to add a part of his own being to the ring so that he could always be there for his loved one, even when apart. But existing options like hair fiber, blood, or DNA pieces all didn’t seem right. As a Ph.D. scientist in molecular cell biology himself, he wanted the whole cell in its full glory, as cells are considered the most complex thing on the planet. Each cell holds a complete copy of your DNA plus all complex machinery representing your being, which also started from one cell.
From this desire, Leithe developed Cellstones and founded Bio Bling to offer this option to anyone wanting to make their ring or jewelry as special as possible – on both an emotional and physical level – for their loved one or themselves.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does the process work from ordering to having the personalized jewelry with a Cellstone?
Once you place an order, we’ll send you a cell isolation kit with easy-to-follow instructions. You collect 30 or more hairs with roots and send them back to us in the pre-labeled envelope. Our team then isolates and preserves the cells and places them within crystal-clear, skin-safe resin to create your Cellstone. Once completed, your Cellstones will arrive carefully packaged and ready for your jeweler to set in the jewelry piece of your choice.
2. What if I need to resize the ring?
We provide multiple Cellstones as back-ups in case resizing or adjustments are needed. If resizing affects the original setting, your jeweler can use one of these additional Cellstones.
3. What if the Cellstone in the jewelry item becomes damaged at some point?
The additional Cellstones included in your order serve as replacements in case of damage, ensuring you can continue wearing your jewelry without worry.
4. What colors can I choose for the Cellstone?
For the Ultimate Cellstone package you can choose between Crystal, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Red, Blue, Aqua, Turquoise, Light Turquoise, Lime, Violet, Lilac, Caramel, Brown, Gray, and Black.
For the Premium Cellstone package you can choose between Crystal, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Red, Lime, and Pink. Ultimate package color can also be chosen as an add-on.
For the Standard Cellstone package there is only crystal.
5. What types of jewelry can Cellstones be used in?
Cellstones can be set into most types of jewelry, such as rings, pendants, bracelets, earrings, and more. In general, any jewelry piece with at least space for a 1 to 2-mm deep, 1 to 2-mm diameter indentation or hole can be fitted with a cylinder-shaped Cellstone.
6. Where do you deliver in the world?
Currently, we offer our services only to Germany. We plan to expand to the rest of Europe and the United States in the near future.
7. How long does it take to receive my Cellstones after ordering?
We are still evaluating average shipping and processing times, as these depend on various factors such as location, the quality and quantity of sampled hair, and the donor’s age and lifestyle, which can influence the time required to obtain cells for the Cellstones.
Processing and shipping include multiple steps: 1) delivering the isolation kit to the customer, 2) receiving the samples back, 3) processing the samples in our laboratory, and 4) shipping the final Cellstones to the customer. Hence, shipping takes the most time.
Using conservative estimates, standard processing may take 4–6 weeks for Germany.
Expedited options are available at an additional cost to shorten these times to 2-3 weeks for all locations and can be selected during checkout.
8. I am in a big hurry. Is there a way to make the whole process faster?
We offer expedited processing options such as express shipping and priority handling for an additional cost. This usually reduces delivery from 4–6 weeks to 2–3 weeks.
Another way to speed up the process is to provide more hairs (up to 80 per tube).
9. I am afraid of pulling out my hair because of the pain. Anything you can recommend?
We offer numbing cream that can be added during ordering. This cream is usually used for waxing and tattooing to avoid pain.
Please note that even without the cream, the discomfort is very minimal and often exaggerated in Hollywood depictions.
When very painful without numbing cream, we suggest taking a warm shower first to help loosen the hair follicles. Most customers find the process tolerable with this preparation.
10. Can I see the cells in the Cellstone?
While the cells are embedded in the Cellstone, they remain invisible to the naked eye due to their microscopic size. With a professional optical microscope (≥ 100× magnification), you can view the cells within the material. However, the cylinder’s curvature prevents a clear image.
If any pre-cured, cell-containing material is left after making the Cellstones, we include it as a small, flattened drop, which could be viewed under a microscope. Otherwise, we always provide high-resolution microscopic images taken just before the cells are embedded in the stones. Either way, you can appreciate your Cellstone as a whole and know it contains a complete representation of your being with the eternalized cells.
